Kaylynn Garcia: "As you can see out behind me the two barges with the fireworks for tonight's celebration have been anchored and in position. Between them and the rig set up on Kitsune Plaza tower downtown, it looks like their intent to start launching at Midnight Eastern Standard and every hour on the hour till Pacific time hits midnight may just be a possibility. Kaylynn Garcia for AP news Channel Sixty Eight, reporting live from Long Beach."
*The camera cuts back to the studio with Raymond and Ariana in their familiar places at the news desk. The latter doing her best to hide the "death look" in her eyes.*
Raymond Wages: "Thank you Kaylynn, Can't wait to see what they come up with." *he turns and addresses the new camera angle* "And just a reminder, Only licensed pyrotechnic technicians are allowed to set off fireworks here in the bay area."
Ariana Bening: "That's Right Ray" *flashing a smile to the cameras* "Also celebratory gunfire is not only dangerous but illegal and many local police offices intend to crack down hard on offenders this year. So keep it in your holsters boys and girls."
*Ray turns to look at her and smiles*
Raymond: "And we will have live coverage tomorrow covering not only Kaylynn in Los Angeles, but Ari here will be heading out later on to New York for the Rockin Eve party in Times Square. Which we will be covering live tomorrow as live as we can make it."
*Which would, it seems, explain the look Ari had earlier...somebody lost a coin-toss and gets to freeze her tush off in New York while somebody else is on a Beach out west.*
Raymond: *Continuing on* "We have Continuing coverage of the hospital fire at the Local Hospital. Investigators are checking to see if the fire may have been set by parties unknown to help cover a robbery of medication from the pharmacy stores on site. Detectives and pharmacists are doing a strict inventory with hospital staff to check on the supplies and order replacements for damaged or contaminated drugs. "
Ariana: "The Detectives say there is no current evidence indicating anything was stolen during the fire, but are not yet prepared to rule that out. Meanwhile Nurse Peaks was quoted as saying that the staff is more concerned with making sure they know what they have especially with flu season coming upon them, and they don't want to be out of anything important should someone need it orally or other ways. She further mentioned that it was amazing the number of old men who she had to stick it to this season to keep them from getting dangerously ill."
*Raymond Adjusts his papers a bit and clears his throat as the camera swings back to him*
Raymond: "Coming up this hour, Thomas Jefferson's Polygraph? It isn't what you think it is, meet the museum staffer who has followed the trail of this device used by one of our Founding Fathers. Also, Former Shell Beach Police Chief arrested overnight for DUI and Solicitation for the second time this week. The story on just who he solicited while in such a state may surprise you."
*The Camera Cuts to Dean, pale faces, with several bandages on his ears and fingers from his incident with the Lobster breeding ponds the other day, standing inside a concrete building lit by the yellow glow of the industrial work lights.*
Dean: "I really don't think being here is a good...Oh are we live again? Uhrm...yes Ray...We spoke with the Station manager Lester Durnt earlier and he's thrilled that the companies contacted were able to get their bids within budget. The Board of Selectmen now have to vote to award the contract to the company that will carry it out. That meeting is scheduled for Early in Twenty Seventeen. Reporting..."
*Dean is cut off by Ariana as she cuts in*
Ariana: "Seems like a lot of money, are things really that bad?" *Said with her sing-song voice knowing he wants to get out of there, Dean still on screen giving her a "Bitch" Look before continuing*
Dean: "From what I understand this station has had problems for the past ten years now with machinery acting up and back-flows caused here lead back to rural and urban areas. All that Sewage needs to get from here to a treatment plant further away to be properly processed. And according to the station supervisor getting replacement parts has become more and more difficult due to the age of the equipment. The tank itself has been in the ground for over forty years now and is probably seeing sever corrosion and chances of it leaking are high."
*he looks over his shoulder as if expecting to see a wall of raw sewage fly up over the railing and attack him before looking back to the camera*
Dean: "Also the new pipes for carrying the sewage will have what are called microfiber holes in the PVC, replacing the problem of absorbing additional groundwater and causing the problems the current clay pipes have. This has been Dean Knopinski Reporting for Channel Sixty Eight News....Lets getthe ~Bleep~ Outa here..."
*He turns while the camera keeps rolling...The Synch of the Mic finally catching up with the Studio*
Raymond: "Thank you Dean." *The Split Screen Shows Dean heading for a Door, Opening it and his raincoat catching a Burst of Wind...Almost lifting him up like a Para-sail...Almost in slow motion the man flies back over the railing and disappears from view, the still live mic recording a thick gooey "SPLORCH" Sound, the way one imagines landing face-first in Jello sounds. Thankfully it wasn't a crunch...though the camera cuts out before the end result can be witnessed. Raymond sitting there blinking a bit* "I...Well speaking of High winds...Here's Wilbert Woods with a Look at the weather that will be impacting us this holiday weekend ad going into Twenty Seventeen. Wilbert ...."
*Wilbert is standing in front of his Green screen...where behind him what looks like a Mud-Man is slowly clawing it's way across the muck and nastiness for a second or three...Seems the camera was still rolling on Poor Dean they just didn't show it.*
Wilbert: "Thanks Raymond. As you can see we had a heavy Dangerous Wind Warning in effect today...that will go on into this evening, where wind gusts can reach up to Sixty miles per hour unexpectedly...so make sure you do your best to stay out of the open and keep anything that could blow away tied down securely."
*As he says this a Quick advertisement for Fetish Rope harnesses flashes on the green-screen behind him before swapping to the radar image*
Wilbert: "Today with those high winds our temperature peaks out at Thirty Eight, but will feel like it's in the low Twenties or Upper teens for most of the day. That high gusty wind and cloud cover cycling on out going into the night time hours, so things should calm down and not blow as hard after sunset."
*Again behind him on the main screen it shifts showing several Girls dressed as schoolgirls with a word balloon above their heads That reads: "Hey Mister, We blow and Suck!" before going back to the display of the weekend forecast*
Wilbert: "Saturday, Starting off with calmer winds and sunshine, but gradually clouding over heading into the afternoon, High only reaching about Twenty Four Degrees, That Cloud cover brings with it Snow and Rain mix into the evening as we start the countdown for the new year. One to Three inches of snowfall should occur overnight in most places. With Light accumulation scattered across the bay area."
*Behind him on the screen a Over-sized Ruler shows behind him with an arrow pointing at his waist level with "One to Three inches" before showing the Icon for Sunday and Monday*
Wilbert: "Sunday, Rain showers showing up in the morning washing away that Snowfall with light winds clearing the clouds out to start off the Wet new year. Not nearly as cold as the past few days, Highs in the Upper thirties. Dropping down to Twenties overnight and on Monday, the First new Work week of the new year, Mostly Sunny with light winds, High a little cooler in the low Thirties, as clouds start to roll back in after Sunset. So all in all a wet start to the new year All along the East Coast, Speaking of which enjoy your Trip to new York Ari."
Ariana: "Thanks Wil" *She refrains by sheer will from growling the words* "Additional stories coming up after the break. Bay Area Streetscape petition passes and allocations for Nearly Four Million dollars to be assigned to beautification projects and repairs for bay Area communities starting this Spring. What this means for your community! Also: "Small is Good"! some experts are saying, but try not to get yourselves too excited at that prospect Boys, it doesn't mean what you think it means. All that and more, after these words from our Sponsors."
