[News] Police need your help

7/30/2015

Picture
Police need the assistance of the public to find two individuals who are accused of assaulting an officer and  vandalism.

The two individuals are described as being a male and a female, wearing worn street clothes and masks that covered their faces. Both suspects appeared  to be possibly homeless. The male suspect lost what appeared to be his wallet and has been identified as Shen Molinaro. The female appeared to be underage, possibly in her late teens.

The two were last seen fleeing police custody near the Newton Construction site where Officer Jennifer Smith attempted to apprehend them. During the attempted arrest Officer Smith was assaulted and received a concussion.

APPD asks that anyone with information on either of these suspects contact them immediately.

[News] Mixed Verdict for McCaw

7/29/2015

The trial of Stubworth "Stubby" McCaw came to a close Wednesday evening with neither side gaining a clear victory.

McCaw was charged with multiple counts of aggravated assault, sexual assault, possession of a deadly weapon as well as possession of a controlled substance and bank robbery.

District Attorney Evangeline Perry led the prosecution with a strong case against the local man who has alleged ties to  biker gang. It was the hope and intention of the AP County Attorney's office to convict him and take a violent offender off the streets. The defense fought against the conviction sighting several inconsistencies in some of the information and witnesses whose stories they claimed had changed.

The trial itself was very tense with both sides arguing aggressively and D.A. Perry having several run ins with Judge Dewey. The judge had to remind Ms. Perry to stay on point with her arguments as he claimed she went on tangents and was using subversive tactics to prove her case.  Judge Dewey pulled both councils to side bar on several occasions during the trial.

Once the final arguments were laid to rest the Court ruled that Mr. McCaw was to be convicted of 3 counts of aggravated assault, 2 counts of aggravated sexual assault, 1 count of sexual misconduct, extortion, kidnapping and possession of controlled substances with intent to supply. However; he was acquitted on the count of bank robbery, kidnapping and extortion case of Alex Rustic.

Judge Dewey was sympathetic to Mr. McCaw and sentenced to time served, G.P.S. ankle monitor, community service and random checks by either an officer of the courts or a court appointed psychiatrist.

The office of the Asphyxiation Point District Attorney said in a statement that they were "for the most part satisfied with the outcome although I felt that Judge Dewey was too sympathetic on Mr McCaw, the man deserves much more than the slap on the wrist he received."

[News] Gruesome Murder

7/27/2015

The heavily mutilated body of a woman was found Sunday by APPD Detective Kenzie Barrett. The body was discovered in the sewer system beneath the street near The Aristocrat.  The woman was found bound to the ladder leading from street level to the tunnels below, she was nude and very heavily disfigured according to APPD reports.

The police do not have a suspect at this time, but according to an APPD source they believe the person responsible to be roughly 5'8 and physically strong.

"This were deliberate and premeditated. We need to find our more about the victim which'll give us more clues about the killer" said Police Chief DeSanta. At this time the authorities are awaiting autopsy results to garner more information.

The APPD asks that anyone who may have information on the woman, who they say was about eighteen, blond and apparently attractive to please contact them as soon as possible. A photo of the woman will be made available by the APPD soon and we will release it to help aid in the solving of this crime.

[Life] OP/ED - Why Should I?

7/27/2015

More and more it would seem that the island we call home is caught in a brutal and unending crime wave. Reports come in daily to the Asphyxiation Police about assaults, theft, rape and even murder. Some even stay in their homes for fear of becoming the next victim, while others arm themselves and prepare for the worst. But is there more we, as citizens of Asphyxiation Point, can do? I say, yes.

The APPD has officers who patrol and investigate crimes and claims of crimes, but they can only do so much with out the support of you and I. By reporting suspicious behavior and people, by watching out for our neighbors or contacting authorities with information we may have then, and only then, are we being proactive to help keep our streets safe.

Sadly many people are afraid to contact the police. Ask yourself, why? Why Should I call and tell the police what I know or what I saw? The answer is simple: to make the streets of Asphyxiation safe again! If you have information about a crime or a suspect in a crime and you come forward it is far more likely that the crime will get solved and the person or persons responsible will go to jail. Taking those threats off the streets keeps everyone safe.

Our Police force is here to help, but they need our help as well. I spoke with APPD Chief DeSanta recently about this matter and this is what he had to say. "Well simply if you come forward and report a crime we'll investigate it and help. A lot of folks is scared to report crimes, maybe for fear of retribution, or even fear of the police. First and foremost' we're here to help folks and keep them safe an we'll do our utmost to protect those who are victims of crime, or who have information on crime and criminals."

Reporting crimes and coming forward with information is a duty all citizens have to their neighbors, their town and to themselves. The police aren't our enemy, they are our defense against these criminals and we need to help them help us.

[Life] Weekly Horoscopes July 27 - August 2 2015

7/26/2015

ARIES (March 21-April 19): Though still active on the home front, thoughts turn to vacations, fun in the sunshine, and a chance to relax and do all the things you don't normally get to do. There's an upbeat party theme in general, particularly on Friday, when the Aquarius Full Moon encourages some fabulous social events. Themed get-togethers, charity bashes, dance parties, and more will be enjoyed by all. On Saturday Saturn forges ahead once again, which should be good news for your financial situation.

TAURUS (April 20-May 20): Though you'll be busy juggling plates on the home front, the developing Full Moon, which comes to a head on Friday, can see you in the limelight for one reason or another. If you need an opportunity to share a brilliant idea or showcase your skills, this is the time to go for it. Saturn turns direct in your relationship sector on Saturday, which can help improve interactions, particularly if you've had problems recently. Solutions may now be within reach.

GEMINI (May 21-June 20): This week you'll thrive on new ideas, creative opportunities, and the chance to expand your horizons. If you get the option to network or attend some key social events, consider accepting, as you'll benefit greatly. Friday's Full Moon could see you enthusiastically embracing a plan that has plenty of mileage in it. A cutting-edge opportunity may be yours if you're willing to accept. A piece of news on Sunday might be just what you want to hear, particularly if it involves a love interest.

CANCER (June 21-July 22): You're in the mood for action this week! Even so, shopping and investing your hard-earned cash could also be a lot of fun. If you haven't treated yourself to a few luxuries or a spa day recently, it's time to do so. You deserve to pamper yourself this week. Saturn pushes ahead in your romance sector, which could see a budding relationship take a new and more positive turn. However, you'll need to consider if it's worth the time and energy invested in it.

LEO (July 23-Aug. 22): You're in your element and eager to explore creativity, romance, and activities of an entrepreneurial nature. You're at your best when thinking on your feet and organizing things. The Full Moon in Aquarius on Friday brings a pleasant, upbeat energy to key social events, making them more enjoyable than usual. Venus rewinds back into your sign, so you may be more critical of your image and have a desire to make a few changes. Romance needs careful handling, too!

VIRGO (Aug. 23-Sept. 22): The focus on your spiritual sector continues, making this an excellent time to explore hidden depths for creative ideas and other treasures. Try to relax, as inspired thoughts that show up during times of quiet might help heal some of the issues plaguing you recently. Retrograde Venus leaves your sign and backs into Leo at the end of the week, encouraging you to improve your relationship with yourself. Taking up a spiritual practice could be a positive experience now.

LIBRA (Sept. 23-Oct. 22): Certain people may be pushing you to make headway with a goal or plan, particularly if they stand to benefit. While this is all well and good, be sure that you aren't the one making all the effort. If so, you'll need to speak up. An active social scene could see you happily involved in planning a celebration or other special event. With the Full Moon on Friday in easygoing Aquarius, this can be one of the better times to hold that fun get-together.

SCORPIO (Oct. 23-Nov. 21): Your spot in the limelight looks set to continue for some time, so make the most of this chance to showcase your natural brilliance. You may even become known as something of an expert in your field. Saturn in your sign pushes ahead once again on Saturday, which can signal greater progress with a plan or project that seems to have been stalled. Some interesting news over the weekend could give you hope concerning an opportunity that you thought you'd missed.

SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 22-Dec. 21): Opportunities for adventure continue to show up, but try to avoid spending on impulse even if one of them seems especially tempting. This week's alignment looks excellent if you're away on vacation or have a chance to chill and set your own schedule. The Full Moon on Friday brings an opportunity for a highly charged social event or meeting. If you're going on a date, have fun, but don't do or say anything you might later regret. Sunday brings some upbeat news!

CAPRICORN (Dec. 22-Jan. 19): Though interactions could be a tad edgy, you'll benefit from being honest rather than keeping your feelings to yourself. Shared finances continue to look positive, making this a good week to pamper yourself and splurge on a few luxuries, especially if you've been working hard. Opt for something that you'd really enjoy even if it is a little expensive. Saturn forges ahead on Saturday, improving your relationship with a key friend and boosting your social life overall.

AQUARIUS (Jan. 20-Feb. 18): Whether you're doing business or dating someone special, relationships and interactions look positive and upbeat this week. It's time to accept invitations and move in new, exciting circles, as you could benefit by doing so. The Full Moon on Friday bodes well for parties, celebrations, first dates, and anniversaries. Opt for total romance with all the trimmings! Venus edges back into Leo on Friday, which could put you in touch with past friends or lovers.

PISCES (Feb. 19-March 20): Lifestyle issues continue to keep you occupied, which means you'll be busy at work and perhaps at the gym. If you can be creative when it comes to varying your everyday routines, you'll find it easier to stick with them. Mars in your pleasure sector could encourage you to explore cultural events, such as exhibitions of art or crafts, concerts, and much more. Enjoy yourself! A weekend chance to earn some extra cash could become a regular thing.

[NEWS] Port Hole Raided

7/24/2015

The Port Hole strip club, in Lower Town Asphyxiation, was raided on Friday by APPD and their S.W.A.T. team in an attempt to apprehend AP resident Stubby McCaw according to APPD sources. Mr McCaw was wanted for several crimes committed in Asphyxiation Point the police stated.
Picture
"The APPD executed search warrants and an arrest warrant on Stubby McCaw in connection with multiple accounts of rape, sexual assault and aggravated sexual assault. In addition to those egregious crimes against the women of this town, he was arrested for bank robbery, extortion and kidnapping." said Detective Madison Monroe of the APPD. "We are very glad to get this kind of sexual predator off our streets and hope that anyone who has information on Stubby McCaw comes forward."  she went on to say.
McCaw resisted and took a hostage initially, but eventually gave himself up without incident and no one was harmed during the raid the police told the Times. Crime Scene Investigators from APPD scoured the club after the arrest for additional evidence against the man. Several employees agreed to cooperate with the investigation at the urging of the club's owner Duke Togo-Rustic.
Picture
The arrest of Stubby McCaw signifies a large step in taking out violent offenders and threats off the streets of Asphyxiation Point by the APPD, but the job is far from done.

"Per DNA evidence we know that we have at least two rapists in AP. McCaw is believed to be one of the alleged rapists. The other one, Lee Adria is still at large." according to Detective Monroe.

The Port Hole club itself has become a haven for a Motorcycle Club called Sons of Liberty with Mr. McCaw at it's head.  The Port Hole was also recently the scene of a stabbing according to sources. Club owner Togo-Rustic says that the club's management is trying to keep the club safe and clean.

"We are trying to keep the club free of such things. As for the bikers, they are a normally good group as a whole. And we normally do not have any issues with them in the club." according to Duke.

Sources close to the police have revealed to the AP Times that Stubby McCaw may be involved in more than what he has been formally charged by AP Police. The AP Times will continue to follow the story as it develops.

[News] AP Times Update: Serial Rapist

7/22/2015

A serial rapist who has stalked the women of Asphyxiation Point was recently brought to light when a local woman chased off an attacker in her own home on Thursday. The APPD gave little information about the individual at the time, but the AP Times was able to sit down with Police Chief DeSanta recently to bring you more on this threat to our island.

According to the police, the man suspected of these attacks, Lee Adria, is not a resident of the island but has been known to frequent Paddy's Bar where he picked up at least one of his victims. The man uses a ruse of being a photographer to lure women and has no apparent specific type of woman that he assaults. To date his victims have had different social backgrounds and were different in appearance. Police say he even knew one of his victims while the other was a random stranger.

Lee Adria is described by police as being about 5'9" with brown hair and is usually well dressed. They only have one photograph of the suspect, a grainy, poorly lit image from surveillance cameras that were monitoring one of the victim's home. Police ask that anyone who might recognize the man to contact them immediately, but do not attempt to interact with his as he is considered armed and dangerous.
Picture
When asked what the APPD is doing to keep the streets safe for the women of Asphyxiation Point, Chief DeSanta stated that there is an active warrant and a BOLO (Be On the Look Out) for all local officers as well as warrants that have been issued state wide and the suspect's details have been sent to the F.B.I. Because the man police suspect of these crimes travels for business it has been difficult to locate him.

DeSanta would go on to say that the residents of Asphyxiation Point be vigilant and make sure to carry a rape whistle and pepper spray. The APPD does offer stun guns free of charge to the residents as well. They can be obtained at the APPD station. They are available in grey or pink and are limited to one per citizen according to Chief DeSanta.

As part of an ongoing effort to keep the people of AP safe, the APPD will soon be offering self defense and firearm safety classes. The details and times of the classes will be made available soon and the Times will keep you informed on that as well.

[News] Alex Rustic in trouble?

7/20/2015

Sunday, July 19th Alex Rustic, CEO of the AP Savings and Loan, and her daughter Bee boarded a private helicopter after receiving news that her father, Carl Rustic, CEO of Rustic International Bank on the mainland had a serious heart attack and is ICU in Chicago. Alex Rustic was seen being escorted by local APPD Officers to the waiting helicopter and it was noted that she was wearing an electronic tracking anklet similar to those used by APPD.  Insider sources revealed that Ms. Rustic was also made to relinquish possession of her passport and refused leave her daughter behind due to several personal reasons.  Her husband Duke did remain on the island to help oversee Ms. Rustic’s businesses here which include the newly opened Wayward Home as well as AP Savings & Loan.

There have been no comments from police as to why Ms. Rustic was made to turn in her passport or was wearing a tracking anklet.  Stay tuned to the Times for more updates on this story.
