The highlight of the evening, however, was the mini tug boat races. Participants drove small replicas of the much larger tugs that are frequently seen in and around the bay. In all there were five racers who followed a course laid out by former APFD Chief Dean Anderson and his wife Dr. Deranean Sands-Anderson. The course ran from the bank of the lake, toward the sewer entrance, looping around a depth pylon and back toward the sea. It continued under the bridge and out to another depth pylon where it turned back and to the finish. Prizes were awarded for finishing position at the end of the race.
The official list of winners is as follows:
1st place - Jadey Dragon
2nd place - Pen Dragon
3rd place - Caden Adonis
Upon winning the event, Jadey Dragon gave a wildly inappropriate victory dance and a brief speech, " Thank you! thank you! I'd like to thank the hot fireman in his floaties for my inspiration. The amazing Med for his flashing, and the hot lady in the bikini that showed side boob!"
Chief Medavac Renfold and Pure Ghoststar also participated and everyone had a good time. Expect for Dean Anderson who quipped, " Alright guys we made the first FD tugboat race without a broken bone ...how disappointing!"
