He had dedicated his life to law enforcement and it shows in the way he interacts with his officers and staff.
"I try to run a pretty tight ship. I find my style of command ain't so hands off as a lot of chiefs. I prefer the streets to the fancy offices so I'm out with the officers a lot, taking 911 calls. So I guess I like to be close my officers." DeSanta told the Times. "Its up to me to inspire my officers to be good Police."

"Contrary to what folks might think. I do actually care about people's safety, an for the well being of the people under our protection. Maybe I am a miserable (expletive), but who wouldn't be when they see the things I've seen and have to deal with day in and day out. But I care." DeSanta told the AP Times. He added "Oh, and I actually don't eat donuts. Thats a fact."
