It was during one of these many daily talks that I struck up a conversation with a nice gentleman, also not from the island we discussed the local news and he expressed his desire to move here more permanently.
During our talks, I found myself agreeing this is a much gentler style of life here and those sunrises and sunsets keep many a photographer coming back for the ideal shot.
But when the conversation got to crime he asked me an odd question, 'Had I ever heard of the Blood Market' which I have not. Assuming it to be some new Island based rock band maybe a mix of Slayer in there, given the name seems slightly thematic to their style of writing, or possibly some sort of odd nickname for the local meat market.
Instead he started to tell me about a shocking organization that is paid to do contracted hits, using the victims for organ harvesting to be sold on the black market or if demand is high snatching people off the street. It sounds like the worst type of slasher movie but reports in recent times have highlighted an increase in human organ harvesting as one of the many ways people are illegally making money, although a name has not always been prescribed to a particular group before now.
The gentleman parted wishing me well before he did though he gave me one word of warning, that we may not know about these people because they are already here, in theory they could be here under our noses without us ever realizing, a seriously scary thought to end on.
Whether what I was told is true or not I will leave for you to decide however I for one will be walking a little more quickly down darkened streets in the future.
