Once in custody and searched, Zach Cross was found to be carrying the cell phone of the missing woman reported in the paper last week. Beatrice Labeau, a nurse at APH, was reported missing by her roommate when she started getting a number of text messages from Labeau’s cell phone that she claimed did not sound like her. When questioning on Sunday, Cross refused to give up the location of Labeau. Only after a friend of Labeau paid Cross $50,000 wired to his personal account did Cross finally provide the information to lead APPD to the victim. Labeau was recovered and quickly transported to APH to undergo medical care. Cross is held in custody for number of charges including kidnapping, blackmail, armed robbery, obstruction, aggravated assault, assault with the deadly weapon and grand larceny.
A suspect known by the name of Zach Cross was apprehended late Saturday night in the sewers by Officer Jay Biafra. He had been listed to APPD as a BOLO after he was suspected of holding up Fast Eddie’s Diner at the end of last week. Last week when the police arrived to the diner, Cross had already left the scene of the crime riding a red bicycle. Cross was able to make away with around $500 cash between the register and the cash held on the four victims of the crime. Although he had fired a series of gunshots towards the group as he fled the diner, none of the people were injured.
