[NEWS] Body Discovered near Port Hole

9/19/2015

Asphyxiation Point Police were alerted to several gunshots being fired early yesterday evening. They dispatched an officer to look into the disturbance, reported to be on the corner of Atlantic and 2nd where they found the body of a young woman lying dead in the street. The victim had been shot three times, once in the head and twice in the chest, execution style.

Officer James Davis was the first on the scene and reported that he had not seen anyone in the vicinity when he arrived. The woman, identified as AP local Char LaMaine, had already been covered in a white sheet, presumably by the murderer.
It was also noted that while Ms LaMaine was known to be redheaded, she was found with her hair dyed blond and the spray on tan she was known to wear had been removed.

Police have no clear motive or suspect at this time for the murder of Ms LaMaine. Char was an individual who had been known to the police, but the basis of their relationship has not been released. She had even worked briefly for the AP Times as a part time photographer before abruptly and mysteriously quitting.

Her murder was but one of a string of homicides that plagued The Point yesterday. The APPD and Chief DeSanta are currently investigating the causes of these deaths. APPD asks that anyone with information about this, or any of the murders that took place, please contact them immediately.

Due to the nature of the other murders and the ongoing investigation, the AP Times will be withholding any stories or information pertaining to those cases in an effort to cooperate with the APPD.

[LIFE] Horror Market Arriving In AP? Fact or...?

9/17/2015

Being a newcomer to the island I like to follow the customs of the native Pointer's and being helpful to newcomers to this bright little island off the North Eastern coast of the United States.

It was during one of these many daily talks that I struck up a conversation with a nice gentleman, also not from the island we discussed the local news and he expressed his desire to move here more permanently.

During our talks, I found myself agreeing this is a much gentler style of life here and those sunrises and sunsets keep many a photographer coming back for the ideal shot.

But when the conversation got to crime he asked me an odd question, 'Had I ever heard of the Blood Market' which I have not. Assuming it to be some new Island based rock band maybe a mix of Slayer in there, given the name seems slightly thematic to their style of writing, or possibly some sort of odd nickname for the local meat market.

Instead he started to tell me about a shocking organization that is paid to do contracted hits, using the victims for organ harvesting to be sold on the black market or if demand is high snatching people off the street.  It sounds like the worst type of slasher movie but reports in recent times have highlighted an increase in human organ harvesting as one of the many ways people are illegally making money, although a name has not always been prescribed to a particular group before now.

The gentleman parted wishing me well before he did though he gave me one word of warning, that we may not know about these people because they are already here, in theory they could be here under our noses without us ever realizing, a seriously scary thought to end on.

Whether what I was told is true or not I will leave for you to decide however I for one will be walking a little more quickly down darkened streets in the future.

[LIFE] New & Improved Fast Eddies

9/16/2015

Fast Eddie's Diner located in Lower Town has been a fixture in Asphyxiation Point albeit with somewhat questionable reputation. Recent changes in the management of the diner promise to turn that around.

Amelia Pond Stipe recently took the reins at Fast Eddies just recently and has plans to not only improve the menu, but the service as well. While you'll still be able to get those infamous greasy burgers, Amelia is bringing in a new cook among other changes.

"We have redecorated, made some improvements to aesthetics and decor, replaced equipment where needed, just a little overhaul and to add my own touch." Ms Stipe told the Times. "I have been doing themed days on specials, Like, Milkshake Mondays, Two for one Tuesdays, Waffles Wednesdays, Thirsty Thursdays, Free fries Friday, Sandwich Saturday, and lastly Sundae Sundays." she said, explaining more of the changes to the diner.

Ms Stipe hails from Norfolk, Virginia where her adoptive parents still reside. She worked at a Fast Eddie's Diner, owned by her father, while she lived there. Seeing the opportunity to expand her own horizons she jumped on the opportunity to manage another franchise location for him, here in The Point.

While in the course of writing this story I took the opportunity to sample the cuisine and although I'm no critic, I have to say there is a vast improvement. Not only in the food, but the service as well. The southern hospitality of Ms Stipe is genuine. Under her guidance the diner has a great future.

"I'd like the diner to be a home away from home, a family, as such, you know? A hive for the community to socialize, be fed, just be together. We're here, and more than ready for them and their appetites, their stories, their problems." She said of the establishment.

[NEWS] Block Party Bang Bang

9/13/2015

The casual fun evening of the block party thrown on 2nd Street Friday night was interrupted when shots rang out. The evenings festivities had been carefree and successful as the event welcomed new residents to the neighborhood with live music, alcohol and free food. Residents from all over the island were in attendance.

One resident, Assistant District Attorney Dorian Kroll, had been enjoying himself and mingling with the crowd when a stranger appeared from the throng of people. Witnesses say they heard the man accuse the A.D.A. of stealing his wife. Before Mr Kroll could respond he had been shot by the assailant.

APPD Chief DeSanta and Sergant Baifra apprehended the man immediately and Dorian was rushed to nearby Asphyxiation Point Hospital in critical condition. Authorities later identified the shooter as Lucian Richard Jones.

The AP Times contacted the wife of Dorian Kroll, Morgana, via telephone in an attempt to get her statement. She was able to verify that the man who shot her husband was, indeed, known to her.

"Lucian is from my past. He is obsessed with the idea of us being together. My father and mother love him." she said in her interview. She was emotional, but went on to say, " I want to make him pay, but he always finds a way to get free. Always." Mrs. Kroll expressed that she was concerned for her safety when it came to Lucian Jones and says she was fleeing him when she moved to The Point. Morgana told the Times it was an accidental release of information by a family member that led the the man to finding her in AP.

"I'm still processing everything. it seems like a horrible nightmare that just keeps getting worse as the days go by. I just want Dorian." she told the Times. At the time of this printing sources say Mr. Kroll is currently in a coma.

[NEWS] A Pig, some gnomes and a Fire, Oh my!

9/13/2015

Yet another Asphyxiation Point event was marred by violence. The combination pig roast and meet and greet held by the AP Fire Department fell victim to a disruptive out burst that led to several injuries and a fire. The event began around 5pm and was initially very social and relaxing. No one in attendance was prepared for the altercation that transpired over the pig that was on the spit roast.

The commotion began when a woman identified as Lyrical 'Poe' Unique Poem arrived and made loud complaints over the choice of meat being served. She strolled through the crowd and approached the spit and began to shout and threaten to take the pig off the roaster and give it a proper burial. Many on hand took exception to having the evening's food be destroyed instead of eaten, including myself.

As a concerned, and hungry citizen I moved toward the food as was subsequently pelted with small stones the woman found lying on the ground. Moving defensively through the barrage of rocks I managed to get close enough to the roasting pig to try and cut some of it away.

The crowd also intervened as members of the APFD brought a fire hose to bear on the woman. The hose was initially set to give a misted spray, enough to annoy and distract the woman while AP Hospital Dr Arizona Renfold approached the ranting Ms Poem with a syringe of Valium. Others, including District Attorney Eva Perry, who later admitted she had invited Poe just to see her reaction, and Dr. Deranean Sands-Anderson stood to Ms Poem's side and would attempt to talk her down from her aggressive attempt to save the pig.

At one point Ms Poem's psychiatrist, Dr. Leigh Silvershade, became involved and assisted in trying to talk the woman out of her actions. This course of action seemed to be working until D.A. Perry made an odd mention of garden gnomes. This caused the already apparently unbalanced woman to go deeper into some sort of delusion, claiming that the gnomes were to blame for everything. It was at this point, with Poe distracted that I tackled her only to be repeatedly assaulted in my genital regions before she turned to try and crawl away.

Seeing the woman crawling the fire department took the opportunity to blast her with a stronger force from the hose. Undeterred Poe continued to slink herself away and to safety. Unfortunately for her she crawled past the picnic table where my wife, Jadey Dragon, had been sitting and who was now very upset over the events. Jadey leaped from the table and landed on top of Ms Poem who cried out in fear "THE GNOME GOT ME!" The two of them traded wildly flying punches, hair pulling and name calling for several minutes and a young friend of Mrs Dragon's, a boy going by the name of Peter Pan, also joined in, attempting to assist Jadey.

APPD Chief Warwick DeSanta, who was in attendance as well, decided to step in and stop the fracas. He approached the two ladies and young boy as they punched, spit and clawed at one another on the now muddy ground. DeSanta was aided by another, probationary officer who struggled to pull the boy and Poe apart. DeSanta took hold of jadey Dragon's arm and attempted to pull her away. Due to the wet grass and mud, DeSanta lost his footing and fell backwards into a tiki torch which, in turn, ignited the paper table cloth covering the table. Seeing the fire DeSanta stood to clear the area, but fell backwards over Jadey who had been resting behind him after the struggle.

Firefighters scrambled to extinguish the flames as those in the scuffle were separated and detained until they calmed. Once the flames were out and somewhat calmer heads were starting to prevail the situation was brought under control. No formal charges were filed against any of the participants of the disturbance and no one was seriously injured.

Some have speculated that future events in Asphyxiation Point should have tighter security after the evenings events. Of the last three, all have ended up with some form of violence erupting. Is tighter security the answer? Or are we destined to see this type of behavior no matter what steps are taken.

[LIFE] The Great AP Tugboat Race

9/13/2015

Asphyxiation Point held it's first ever mini tug boat races as part of the entertainment at the Pig Roast held by the AP Fire Department. The event itself was held to allow the community to meet the new chief of the Fire Department, Medavac Renfold. The pig roast was met with success as many from The Point came by to enjoy the free food and drinks that were offered.

The highlight of the evening, however, was the mini tug boat races. Participants drove small replicas of the much larger tugs that are frequently seen in and around the bay. In all there were five racers who followed a course laid out by former APFD Chief Dean Anderson and his wife Dr. Deranean Sands-Anderson. The course ran from the bank of the lake, toward the sewer entrance, looping around a depth pylon and back toward the sea. It continued under the bridge and out to another depth pylon where it turned back and to the finish. Prizes were awarded for finishing position at the end of the race.

The official list of winners is as follows:
1st place - Jadey Dragon
2nd place - Pen Dragon
3rd place - Caden Adonis

Upon winning the event, Jadey Dragon gave a wildly inappropriate victory dance and a brief speech, " Thank you! thank you! I'd like to thank the hot fireman in his floaties for my inspiration. The amazing Med for his flashing, and the hot lady in the bikini that showed side boob!"

Chief Medavac Renfold and Pure Ghoststar also participated and everyone had a good time. Expect for Dean Anderson who quipped, " Alright guys we made the first FD tugboat race without a broken bone ...how disappointing!"
