Officer James Davis was the first on the scene and reported that he had not seen anyone in the vicinity when he arrived. The woman, identified as AP local Char LaMaine, had already been covered in a white sheet, presumably by the murderer.
It was also noted that while Ms LaMaine was known to be redheaded, she was found with her hair dyed blond and the spray on tan she was known to wear had been removed.
Police have no clear motive or suspect at this time for the murder of Ms LaMaine. Char was an individual who had been known to the police, but the basis of their relationship has not been released. She had even worked briefly for the AP Times as a part time photographer before abruptly and mysteriously quitting.
Her murder was but one of a string of homicides that plagued The Point yesterday. The APPD and Chief DeSanta are currently investigating the causes of these deaths. APPD asks that anyone with information about this, or any of the murders that took place, please contact them immediately.
Due to the nature of the other murders and the ongoing investigation, the AP Times will be withholding any stories or information pertaining to those cases in an effort to cooperate with the APPD.
